The FACh's Twin Otter aircraft were acquired in 1966 with the "DHC-6-100" models, characterized by their short nose and without radar, in addition to the "DHC-6-300" models and are part of the Groups of Aviation Nº5, in the IIIrd Air Brigade in Puerto Montt, the Aviation Group Nº6 of the IV Air Brigade in Punta Arenas and the Aerial Photogrammetric Service in Santiago. one of its flight characteristics called "STOL" (Short Take-Off and Landing), allows its takeoff and landing in smaller terrain. It reaches a maximum speed of 338 km/hr in the 300 models and 287 km/hr in the 100 series models. This aircraft reached the South Pole in a historical milestone in November 1984, in the operation called "Polar Star"

Las aeronovaes Twin Otter de la FACh, fueron adquiridas en el año 1966 con los modelos "DHC-6-100", caracterizándose por su nariz corta y sin radar, además de los modelos "DHC-6-300" e integran los Grupos de Aviación Nº5, en la IIIra Brigada Aérea en Puerto Montt, el Grupo de Aviación Nº6 de la IV Brigada Aérea en Punta Arenas y el Servicio Aereofotogramétrico en Santiago. una de sus caracteristicas de vuelo llamada "STOL"(Short Take-Off and Landing), permite su despegue y aterrizaje en terrenos mas reducidos. Alcanza una velocidad máxima de 338 km/hr en los modelos 300 y 287 km/hr en los modelos serie 100. Está aeronave vegó al Polo Sur en un hito Histórico en noviembre de 1984, en la operación llamada "Estrella Polar"
