F-BEFD was a DC-3C (converted C-47A) built in Oklahoma City and which probably flew in the European theatre during World War II. It was bought by Aigle Azur in 1956 and operated until 1960.
Aigle Azur was one of the first privately held French airline that managed to be succesful after the end of WWII. It initially operated french built Ju-52 (AAC.1 Toucan) and then acquired some DC-3 from KLM. They mainly flew scheduled flights from France (Paris, Nice and Marseille) to North Africa (Tunis, Alger, Oran...). The company then extended its business to Asia and started a subsidiary in Indochina, becoming one of the biggest operator in the region, where they flew scheduled flights, but also humanitarian flights and dropping supplies for military operations.
The livery is available for BOTH versions of the Douglas DC-3, that is one CLASSIC version and one RETROFIT (GPS) version. Choose the appropriate folder from the .zip file and place it into your InstallationPackages/Community folder.
Additional note regarding the registration of this livery:
This livery is the depiction of the paiting made on F-AZTE (the current "Air France F-BBBE" DC-3) for the 60th anniversary of Aigle Azur in 2006. It is representing F-BEFD, one of the last DC-3 operated by Aigle Azur in the 1950s. Hence, I have created this livery with the only 3 pictures of F-AZTE that exists in this particular livery, as there are no existing pictures of the real F-BEFD. The Aigle Azur livery from the end of the 1940s was slightly different, but once again there are maybe 3 or 4 pictures from these aircraft in this era; maybe I will try to create it one day.
The last picture is from this 60th anniversary, where F-AZTE painted in F-BEFD colors is flying near Etretat's famous cliffs. I have tried to recreate this exact shot in my first screenshot. ;)
Superbe, merci.
