| The ICON A5 2021 Performance Edition has a new supercharged engine that delivers over 150 HP, and comes with an upgraded avionics package that includes the G3X Touch display. The G3X Touch adds 2-axis autopilot to the Icon A5 making it an IFR capable aircraft while also giving pilots additional situational awareness via features such as synthetic vision.
Most performance and flight model changes were done by me with the avionics work coming from @davux3!

DOWNLOAD AND INSTALLATION
- Make sure you have the latest version of the working title GX mod installed as it is required
- Make sure the Uwa Light Mod for the Icon A5 has been deleted from your community folder as we include a version of this in our mod that doesn't conflict with the autopilot features we've added
- Make sure any of the previously downloaded versions of this mod that were named icona5-supercharged and/or icona5-insaneperformance have been deleted from your community folder as they are now obsolete
- Unzip the provided file and place all folders into your community folder as is, please do not rename any of the downloaded folders as this may cause issues
You will be able to tell the mod was installed correctly by the default livery having a grey triangle in the lower left corner.
IMPROVEMENTS MADE
PERFORMANCE
- Increased HP from 100 to over 150
- Increased cruise speed from 85 to 95
- Increased top speed from 95 to 120
- Water take off time of less than 6 seconds
- Ground take off time of less than 10 seconds
- Improved flight model with stable flight up to 120 knots
- Fixed thrust bug that was due to negative engine values
AVIONICS
- Replaced stock Garmin Aera with the G3X Touch
- Updated G3X Touch adds previously unavailable autopilot capability
- Updated G3X Touch to included missing heading and altitude select buttons
- Removed redundant airspeed indicated from engine indication system (EIS)
- Cleaned up font and spacing of ambient air temperature on engine indication system (EIS)
- AS1000 backup display improved to include heading, also now includes a mode switch to use the 2021 option of omitting backup attitude indicator
PENDING UPDATES
- Replace engine BAR with PSI in engine indication system (EIS)

Will there be an update to your mod in response to AAU1? With the change in the avionics for the Longitude the Garmin mod is now obsolete and causes a conflict with the updated aircraft displays. Would love to continue using the mod for the A5 it is really a game changer. Salute and thanks again for the work you've done for the community.

The Icon A5 is by far my favorite plane in the sim, and I was really looking for a way to make it my own. With this performance improvement and a livery with interior, I really feel at home in my fully customized A5! Thank you so much!

In order to get the idle rpm down to 1500, change the following line in the engines.cfg file:
from
manifold_efficiency_table = 0:0.25, 1:0.97
to
manifold_efficiency_table = 0:0.15, 1:0.97
For some reason, further decreasing the value, doesn't reduce the rpm further below 1500, i don't understand why.

I generally like the mod, especially that autopilot is available. But as others have mentioned, the rpm must be much too high. It shoots away when taxiing and is more or less uncontrollable. Must brake all the time. When cruising, my throttle is 3/4 back and still passing 90 knots. I've never experienced the Icon live, but I can't believe this is true to life.

RPMs are to high at idle speed. must stay on the brakes during taxi and speed is uncontrollable in the water

Autopilot heading is not working correctly. It increases or decreases in increments of 5 degrees only.

Needs a significant update post-SU7, and most definitely it's not working correctly in SU8 beta (now release candidate). It used to be great, would love to see it functional properly. Thanks for the efforts. Cheers

I have GX screen blank, is this a common issue?

I'm not sure I did this right but I download both Perfromance Pkg 2.9.0 and GX Mod V0.1.0 to my community file but doesn't seem to work (no grey triangle). Would this be because of compatibility with Sim update 8 or am I doing something wrong?

So happy I can use my A5 for longer IFR flights! Sadly, as others have commented, the engine idle is way too high! I have to kill the engine and glide in if I want to be able to land anywhere. One small change and everything would be great!

you have to click on the nose up or nose down buttons to set up or down rate

It has too much power after the update, it is not so fun to fly like the previous version. You are not able to get slower in the water. I copied the engine.cfg from the old version to the new one and it's ok. Nevertheless it is great because of the autopilot!

I have a crazy workaround for the excessively high 2000-2200 RPM idle while it is in the water. If you drop the wheels when on the water, the drag slows it down so that it is manageable and you can use it in the same fashion as a boat - the RPM doesn't drop, but the speed does - considerably. Then you can ride it up on a beach as well, if you want. Too bad there is no fix for when on the ground. The idle should be about 1700, or so.
