The ICON A5 reinvents recreational aviation and lets you bring the exhilaration of flight to life like never before. Sport flying with the A5 is tailored to pilots who primarily fly for recreation — easy to fly, lightweight, and low operating costs.
The A5 has some cool stuff between the water and ground configs and Icon provided detailed checklists, almost all of which was translatable to the game.
Note: This will not be the final version (hence the 0.9), there are additional checklists I want to add and some tweaks that need done to the existing ones but everything here is complete and working as far as my extensive (2) full test flights went. I'll be taking a break at least until the anniversary update, so I wanted to get this out there.

Enroute Climb: 2 checkpoints (0 in original)
Cruise: 4 checkpoints (0 in original)
Descent: 3 checkpoints (0 in original)
Before Landing: 8 (4 land, 4 water) checkpoints (0 in original)
Normal Landing: 4 (2 shared, 1 land, 1 water) checkpoints (0 in original)
Shutdown: 10 checkpoints (0 in original)
Additional Checklists:
TBD
Deviations from Checklist:
- External preflight inspection was skipped as there is no interactivity and you would just be ticking off 72 items. Assume your plane is in perfect condition.
- Engine Run-Up magneto tests were combined into two steps due to limitation in storing variables between checkpoints
- Added a couple of steps to turn on and off taxi/landing lights as appropriate
- Where possible, water and land checklists were combined as one checklist with different blocks to save space, but you'll only get the steps appropriate to your current surface type.
Gameplay Notes:
- INOP: Bilge Pump and Cabin Heat. Bilge Pump comes up a couple times on the checklists, Cabin Heat does not
- Autofocus has been removed so you can look at what you want. If you're unfamiliar with the controls, turn on assisted checklists or click the eye icon to get on-screen pointers and glowmaps to point you to the right place.
- Some checkpoints may have been reworded to make more sense within the game
- During preflight, you need enough fuel on board for your current flight plan to pass the copilot check. I'm not sure how precise the calculation is, but in testing it works pretty well. Cruise fuel monitoring uses the same formula, but with distance to target. I'm not sure if that works as well and it's not something I tried on the other two uploads, so let me know if it causes a problem.
- How do you do the engine run-up on water? I don't know. I wouldn't try it a second time. This plane needs an anchor.
Open Issues
- Transponder check only looks for ALT and code (1200). Pushing the VFR button doesn't matter (Status: Investigating)
- Set GPS only requires the circuit to be on, it doesn't need a flight plan or any button push to pass copilot check (Status: Investigating)
- It's unclear what they did with the coolant (water) temperature indicator. It should reach the red arc at 111 degrees celsius, but that number doesn't work, neither does 0 degrees, 232 degrees farenheit, or 1110 degrees celsius for that matter (Status: Investigating, removed coolant temperature check from engine instrument monitoring, it's in the green anyway)
- AOA Check on descent is not working, I did an automatic pass for assisted checklists, try to keep the dial on the white line (Status: Investigating)
- When shutting down on water, you still need to hold the brakes (Status: Investigating)
- Oil pressure value (also see note below about low value) reported by the game is higher than it should be and doesn't match what you see in the green arc. There's a workaround in place for instrument monitoring with assisted checklists (Status: Investigating)
- Oil pressure should be 29 minimum based on the A5 specs. In game, the green arc starts at 25. I've left the check at 29, but since you hit 37 on engine start, it's a non-issue and likely won't be fixed.
Can't/Won't Fix
Annunciator Lights:
- Annunciator panel test only checks if the button is pressed (and low fuel pressure, but that's a given with the engine off). Most of the warning lights are ONLY illuminated when the 'TEST' button is pressed, which can't be checked as they're all treated as the same light, or when there's an actual failure, which is beyond my scope. On the other side, there's no way to verify all annunciator lights are off during the magneto test. Visually both work as expected.
- When setting Magnetos to A or B before starting the engine, the FUEL PRESS warning light is supposed to go out. Asobo doesn't have it set up that way and I can't force it with a checklist, so just move on.
- When setting Magnetos to Both, the ENGINE and LAND AIRCRAFT lights are supposed to go out. Same issue as above, so continue to start the engine.
- The ALTERNATOR light should stay on until you hit more than 26 volts. I'm not sure when that happens in the real Icon, but in game, you hit 28 as soon as the engine starts, so the light is already out when you get to the Before Taxi checkpoint.
- During the magneto test, LAND AIRCRAFT and ENGINE lights should illuminate after switching from BOTH to A or B. Asobo didn't program that function.
Instruments:
- Sometimes the instrument needle is highlighted, sometimes the whole gauge, that's the template they use, not me.
- The Altimeter knob doesn't have a Part_ID, so highlighting doesn't work on the Altimeter Set/Verify checkpoint. The needle is highlighted instead
GPS:
- There's no Part_ID for the Aera GPS, so highlighting doesn't work. It's the only screen in the cabin, I'm sure you can find it.
- I tried using GPS for some simple Direct To's and couldn't get it to do anything but fly me around in a circle over a userpoint I didn't create. That has absolutely nothing to do with this file, I just found it annoying.

Great upgrade for the plane.
thanks for that
