Kirtland AFB Aux Field is an auxilary airfield located approximately 6.5 miles South of Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, NM. Kirtland AFB shares runways with Albuquerque International Airport (KABQ). Aux Field is used by CV-22B Osprey, HH-60G Pavehawk, and UH-1 Huey aircraft to practice takeoffs and landings without disturbing the main traffic at the big international airport. It is located in the SW corner of the Kirtland AFB test ranges. The airfield includes 2 N-S and 2 E-W oriented short asphalt and dirt landing strips as well as several helipads including lights at night with the exception of one helipad that remains unlit for lights out operations.
The airfield can be found using airport code KIKR in the World Map. There are multiple runway starts and helipad starts depending on winds and where you would like to spawn in. In real life however this is a practice field so aircraft don't start from this location. They would have been flown there from their main base. There are no taxiways as there is only some dirt roads for vehicles between each area of the airfield. There are also parking spots located on the helipads so you can spawn in with a cold start on a helipad if you wish. Spawning in directly to the helipad will result in a hot start. The simulator will also only let you spawn on a hot-start helipad if you are using a rotorcraft. For aircraft like the MV-22 Osprey or another STOVL/VTOL you will need to spawn on one of the asphalt or dirt runways if you want to spawn in as a hot start. If you are fine with the cold start you can spawn on one of the helipad parkings and the sim will let you.
This scenery enhancement began as a personal project to provide a realistic place to practice with the Miltech Simulations MV-22 Osprey. The airfield is suitable for any helicopter or STOL/VTOL aircraft that you wish to practice with. Additionally I have added some 3d models at and around the National Solar Thermal Test Facility located East of the Aux airfield. These models are all default so no additional libraries are needed.
Also here many thanks from Warstein in Germany for re-designing this to a wonderfull place to visit😊

Please update to show this a fictional runway, as KAFB is both military and is attached to Civilian KABQ runways. This lading site is a fictional work of art and does not exist t KAFB/KABQ. Nice work though

This is not a fictional landing site. It exists in real life. You can find it in Google Earth and it is part of Kirtland AFB property. There is nothing fictional about this. KABQ is the airport code for Albuquerque/Kirtland AFB so there is no conflict.
