Popularly known as simply Nacional, the airline was founded in 1946 and had a rapid growth in the late 40s due to the new routes opened by the DC-3s (all of them war surplus as many other operators), and started to merge and absorb competitors to the point of reaching the 100 destinations mark within 10 years, operating a total of 32 DC-3 during theiur apex.
acional was later a victim of the "big fish" tendency and disappeared after being absorbed by Real, which kept showing "Nacional" logo in the DC-3s for many years.
